Scrap metal

Your scrap metal is a valuable commodity – it’s also something that can be recycled, helping the environment by avoiding landfill. According to The BMRA (British Metal Recycling Association), in 2005 13 million tonnes of metal was recycled in the UK. Around 40% of this was used in the UK with 60% exported worldwide for many different uses.

If you have everyday metal, such as cans, collected as part of your wheelie bin service, it will be separated out using a series of conveyors and magnets – aluminium cans are separated out using a specific type of magnet. Recycling aluminium uses only around 5% of the energy and emissions needed to make it from raw materials – and it can be recycled again and again. The same applies to steel.

If you have more bulky or large loads of metal to recycle, we're more than happy to accept it at our site in Great Blakenham. We offer the best metal prices and have been dealing in scrap metal since 1929. We have the capability of processing almost all types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals ready for the smelting of new materials; metal is segregated, cleaned and processed to the highest specification possible using the latest in shears, balers and cable stripping technology; our metal shredder processes up to 200 tonnes of metal per day. We are experienced in the preparation of metal to internationally recognised grades and get the best possible prices from our network of contacts worldwide.

If in doubt, talk to us about any scrap metal needs you have and we'll be happy to let you know the best possible way of recycling.

Sackers are friendly, approachable and above all professional in how they manage our various waste streams and continue to introduce innovative ideas that both reduce costs and increase our ability to recycle.
